The more we find excuses, the more we stop learning.

“????, ?’? ??? ??? ??? ????!”

“????, ? ???’? ???? ???? ?? ????? ????.”

“?’? ??? ????????? ?? ?? ???? ?? ?? ???????.”

?

Do all of the above sound familiar?

?

I’m not here to point out your shortcomings and most definitely not here to say I have it all. So, hear me out!

?

To senior teachers, no one can buy the experience that you have. You have taught students of all kinds of shapes, sizes, personality, temperament… you name it! Aside that, you have skills to manage parents that can fill a book.

?

Yet, times has changed. It took one pandemic to take away the comforts we used to enjoy. Indeed, it is very challenging but should that stop you from teaching? Should that stop you from learning something new that will benefit students and parents?

?

For young and fresh teachers, I used to be in your position. The first two years of full time teaching is the toughest. You realized most parts of your job was not taught in the textbook. It didn’t say you will most likely learn on the job.

?

All because it is tough, it is all the more reason for you to ask for help. That’s what I did when I worked at my first school. I remember introducing myself to the school team and I recalled saying that I have a lot to learn from my senior colleagues. Humbling myself allow me to learn so much from my colleagues and till today, they continue to inspire me.

???

Don’t let pride stop you from becoming a great teacher.

?

Since becoming a teacher, constantly learning has become a significant process of my career. No matter how busy I am, I still try to find pockets of time to learn a new software, create a new game, get new ideas from YouTube, etc.

?

Most importantly, I try to apply the new thing in my lessons ASAP. Why?
This is because we forget easily….and we also procrastinate!

?

Consider reflecting on your career for a few moments. How do you want to move forward from your current state?

?

Do you want to become a better teacher?

Comment ???? YES if you do! I would love to hear your thoughts on this too!
